About

On What Grounds? is a public affairs show hosted by Jacob Margolis on KZSC, 88.1, in Santa Cruz, California. Our signal covers all of the Monterrey Bay and Santa Cruz areas, and is broadcast by our 20,000 watt radio tower. We have a potential 2.5 million listeners and a consistent, very reliable, and much appreciated audience who are nice enough to help keep the station on the air. We are a completely listener supported radio station located on the University of California Santa Cruz Campus, although we are an independent entity.

The goal of the show, as well as this website, is to provide our audience with an opportunity to listen to as well as read alternative positions on issues not ordinarily recognized or addressed by the broader media.

Notable guests that have been on the show include Ralph Nader, Henry Rollins, Leslie Carde, Nick Penniman and Sage Francis and Bernard Dolan.

The show will also act as a class of sorts, allowing students and community members to participate in the program, where they will learn to place together reports efficiently, do proper research, and learn to work with a team of people who are passionate about reporting and story telling.
